I was able to use the internet to learn some more facts about Precious McKenzie.

So when he came to visit our school I would know more things about him then most of the people in the assembly.

Speech 2017

 

1.Hi my name is Phoenix I am going to be talking to you about drifting.  Drifting is a driving style.  This is where  the driver uses the gas, brake and clutch to lock the wheel at the back end of the car, it is not that easy to drift.	2.You just need an open space  to  practice or a drifting  track. When you are near a corner you just pull the handbrake and steer, if the car is drifting on the right you want to steer to the right a little bit then just flick it to the left and just  slide it out.
3.But you don't want to put the gas to the metal because then you are going to crash because your car can't handle the power and  it is  too much for the right side of your car, you want to alternate the gas and brake just slow down for the other corner and do the same.	4.Who Drifts  in New Zealand?   Put your hands up if you know who drifts,  now  put your hands down. Well I Am going to tell you, he is a World Champion and his name is  Mad Mike  and also his friend CANTERBURY.
5.They have heaps of trophies and medals for  drift events and Mad Mike has  four drifting cars.    He 6.owns an Rx7 that has 1200hp,  an RX8 with 800hp and RX7 with a rocket bunny kit and a MX5 with 1200hp.	7.Canterbury has a Holden Commodore, it has v8 and Mad Mike has quad rotary Twin Turbo rx7 and rx8 twin 8.turbo.   What car would you  practice with drifting normally.  A  manual is better to drift because you can go down a gear up a gear and clutch kick.
9.In an auto you can't go down a gear up a gear and you can't clutch kick because you have no clutch.  It is not that easy to drift because you need heaps of money for wheels, tyres and cars because if one car breaks down you need to be prepared.	10.Lastly if you're not good at drifting it’s okay because not everyone is good at drifting because it is a really really hard.  Thanks for listening to my speech I really appreciate you listening to my speech and don't forget to keep drifting.

In my speech I was able to talk about drifting  and using persuasive words

Next time i will do more movement and more persuasive words and more year 6 words e.g confused.

Quotation Marks

                                     

Walt : use advanced punctuation accurately e.g quotation marks.

                                                                         My Reflection:

I was able to 8 out of 10 in this Quotation Marks Quiz. I am proud of my work.  I was able to put the quotations marks around the beginning and end of the talking parts.

Next time I will get 10 out of 10 because I will practise some more and learn from my mistakes.

Camp Merc Acrostic Poem

WALT: Edit and revise my writing for clarity and impact in response to feedback

Learning reflection:

I was able to edit my work with Mr. Owens. I get feedback from him , he told me that I have spelling mistakes and that my punctuation where in the wrong places.


Next time I  will look for the red lines and correct my spelling mistakes. I will also put my punctuation in the right places.

Spelling - 45 Letter Sounds

Walt : use  : use different spelling patterns and strategies to increase my word knowledge.

There are 45 letters sounds in the English language.  Sometimes these sounds are made by one letter and sometimes they are a made by a group of letters together.  Learning these letter sounds will help me spell unknown tricky words and increase my word knowledge.

This is my writing evidence. I found this easy because I'm good at writing letter .  I had lots of  ideas next time i can try to use a dictionary for my Spelling

I like my recount, because I tried my best and I used the who, when and where in my introduction.

I used full stops and capital letters most of the time, but I need to remember them everytime.

Reflection:
I think I did well, because I read the story carefully to find the page and answers to the questions.

Where to next,  I still needs more practice, so I can do this faster.

I was learning to plan my writing using a brainstorm. The tricky part was making it short. The easy part was planning. Next I would like to learn to make my letters neat.
