Auggie´s Classroom

Walt : identify and use the perimeter rule to calculate the size of Auggie’s classroom.

I was able to draw the perimeter of a class room and calculate it. The perimeter of Auggie´s classroom was 34.10 meters. It was kind of hard to calculate the perimeter.

Next time I can make it harder by making an irregular shape and use more complicated numbers e.g. 12.45, 30.147.

Wonder-Portrait of me

I was able to create a portrait  of me as a wonder character. I really enjoyed making me a as a wonder   character. 

next time i would be faster.

Language Features

WALT: Recognise and understand specific language features.
Reflection:

I was able to get help from Mrs P because I did not that much language features.

I was getting some help from Mrs P and from google in the end I was done i was so happy because I Was done a ready.

Next time i am going to not get help from Mrs P or google .

I was able to use the internet to learn some more facts about Precious McKenzie.

So when he came to visit our school I would know more things about him then most of the people in the assembly.

WALT:

Locate and evaluate Information about usain bolt on the internet. at least 5 facts create a slideshow including theses facts and any images/Videos of usain bolt.

Reflection: I learned today usain bolt made a movie about himself in 2016.

Next time i will get more photos and more information.

Speech 2017

 

1.Hi my name is Phoenix I am going to be talking to you about drifting.  Drifting is a driving style.  This is where  the driver uses the gas, brake and clutch to lock the wheel at the back end of the car, it is not that easy to drift.	2.You just need an open space  to  practice or a drifting  track. When you are near a corner you just pull the handbrake and steer, if the car is drifting on the right you want to steer to the right a little bit then just flick it to the left and just  slide it out.
3.But you don't want to put the gas to the metal because then you are going to crash because your car can't handle the power and  it is  too much for the right side of your car, you want to alternate the gas and brake just slow down for the other corner and do the same.	4.Who Drifts  in New Zealand?   Put your hands up if you know who drifts,  now  put your hands down. Well I Am going to tell you, he is a World Champion and his name is  Mad Mike  and also his friend CANTERBURY.
5.They have heaps of trophies and medals for  drift events and Mad Mike has  four drifting cars.    He 6.owns an Rx7 that has 1200hp,  an RX8 with 800hp and RX7 with a rocket bunny kit and a MX5 with 1200hp.	7.Canterbury has a Holden Commodore, it has v8 and Mad Mike has quad rotary Twin Turbo rx7 and rx8 twin 8.turbo.   What car would you  practice with drifting normally.  A  manual is better to drift because you can go down a gear up a gear and clutch kick.
9.In an auto you can't go down a gear up a gear and you can't clutch kick because you have no clutch.  It is not that easy to drift because you need heaps of money for wheels, tyres and cars because if one car breaks down you need to be prepared.	10.Lastly if you're not good at drifting it’s okay because not everyone is good at drifting because it is a really really hard.  Thanks for listening to my speech I really appreciate you listening to my speech and don't forget to keep drifting.

In my speech I was able to talk about drifting  and using persuasive words

Next time i will do more movement and more persuasive words and more year 6 words e.g confused.

Ghost Prediction

WALT: To make a prediction based on the cover and blurb of ghost by Jason Reynolds

I was able to look at the front of the cover and it looked like the boy was running and I read the title.

Next time I will have more interesting prediction because going to find a good book with a good blurb with interesting words and I will look and at the front cover and look at the name of the book.  I will use the words on the blurb to help me better with the predictions.

Matariki Moon Phases

Walt : accurately identify and organise the phases of the moon.

I was able to identify the full moon and new moon but the rest I found a bit tricky and I needed some help.  I learnt that the moon as eight phases and that the are different all over the world.

I think I could learn some more information about the moon and maybe I will look at the moon at night.

Labour Day

Walt : understand passing on message is important so we understand why we celebrate

I was away most of the days and I put the pictures in to the slideshow.  I didn't learn anything about Labour Day

I don't think it is important to celebrate Labour Day.  Maybe I could learn some facts about Labour Day in my spare time.  Passing on messages about celebrations is important because Its a important day because most people celebrate it.

Around the World Birthday Celebrations

I chose Bahamas because I wanted to learn about cultural activities and what they do and eat on their birthday.  I had to find what they did on their birthday because it was easy because I have done a similar activity before.

The Flax Flyers

Walt: recognise and understand specific language features eg. factual and persuasive language

This was easy because in this story I could work out the words that were facts because they were teaching you how to make flax flyers.

I am going to use some persuading words in my letter to the Leadership team about school uniforms eg. uniforms are better because they are blue.

Multiplication

WALT: use a variety of multiplication strategies to solve problems

I know that if I choose my 2x 5x tables it is easy to solve problems.  I can use brackets when I do my multiplication, and I can add two digit numbers together.

Next time I need to practise and get better at my basic facts.

Quotation Marks

                                     

Walt : use advanced punctuation accurately e.g quotation marks.

                                                                         My Reflection:

I was able to 8 out of 10 in this Quotation Marks Quiz. I am proud of my work.  I was able to put the quotations marks around the beginning and end of the talking parts.

Next time I will get 10 out of 10 because I will practise some more and learn from my mistakes.

Birthday now and then

Walt: compare and contrast birthdays.


Theses are some ideas that i have compared between the different parties.

I had to put my thinking cap on and research on the internet the different things that they did in 1967 and 2017.  It was a little bit hard to get the things off the internet because other things kept popping up.

Camp Merc Certificate

I got this certificate because I went to Camp Merc.  I liked camp because I like sports and it was fun.  My favourite activity was sailing because I love water activities.

WALT: Edit and revise my writing for clarity and impact in response to feedback

Learning reflection:

I was able to edit my work with Mr. Owens. I get feedback from him , he told me that I have spelling mistakes and that my punctuation where in the wrong places.


Next time I  will look for the red lines and correct my spelling mistakes. I will also put my punctuation in the right places.

My Word Clarification Sheet

Walt: actively seek to extend my word knowledge.

I was able find words that I am not sure about and put them on word clarification chart.   

Next time I am going to put in only words that I don't know the meaning off.  I will try hard not to include words like TV and milk because I know what they mean it's just I don't know a lot of information about them eg. craving.    I will make sure that use my own words because that way I will understand what I am writing.

Spelling - 45 Letter Sounds

Walt : use  : use different spelling patterns and strategies to increase my word knowledge.

There are 45 letters sounds in the English language.  Sometimes these sounds are made by one letter and sometimes they are a made by a group of letters together.  Learning these letter sounds will help me spell unknown tricky words and increase my word knowledge.

House Captains Speech = Resilience

Today I stood up in front of my house and shared my house captain speech I demonstrated resilience by not giving up and I kept trying my hardest.  I was really but I think I will give new things a try.
